An Ode to My Past
If I could go back in time, I would show my appreciation to your endless love,
the woe you felt, when past you I would shove.
I would see the pained look on your face, as I tore your heart apart,
wipe off your tears of labour, go back to the start.
Hug the Language-barrier away, far.
If I could go back in time, I would eat each morsel you have to feed,
with focus on only you, eat with a restless greed.
I would look into your shining eyes, the wrinkled smile on you face,
greying hair, glowing skin, your beauty, your grace.
Save your magic for another day.
If I could go back in time, I would apologise where apologies were due,
And tell them that these words from my heart, ring true.
I would slow down time, make up with all my good friends I lost,
in the waste of haste, I would take back the things I said in the past.
Wasted friendships that will always haunt.
That time is dear, but no looking back, the future is here, be prepared for that.
I’ll spend every single minute with you in joy from now on,
I’ll make memories, to remember when you are long gone.
Don’t think of that mournful day yet, for we have so much of our lives left.
Stay happy my little inner child, for the days that come, will be both yours and mine.
